New Clubs Feature: The De-Stress Club

The De-Stress Club, started by Morgan Taylor, Group XI, Quinn Scannell, XI, and Katie Miao, XI, is one of Greenwich Academy’s newest clubs.

Meeting in Room 239 during GA’s weekly Wednesday club slot, the De-Stress Club aims to provide a friendly environment where anyone can unwind.

“We just want to help the upper school as a whole de-stress,” said Taylor.

The De-Stress Club sprung from a casual conversation between Taylor, Scannell, and Miao.

“We were wondering, ‘What is something everyone needs?’ Jokingly, I asked, ‘How about a De-Stress Club?’” said Taylor.

Since its introduction in the fall of 2015, the De-Stress Club has soared in popularity; many students, particularly underclassmen, attended its first meeting and attest to the club’s benefits.

“It helped that we weren’t allowed to talk about school,” said Lulu Meissner, IX, who recommends the club to others.

Upperclassmen also had positive comments about their experience.

“I definitely felt more relaxed and calm… I have a group of friends to support me,” said Emma Clark, XI.

The club’s members send out weekly all-school emails inviting all GA upper school students to join.

“If you can’t make it, don’t stress!” said Scannell.
