Joy Akuffo
Hi! My name is Joy Akuffo and I’m running to be your DEIB president! Coming into GA as new freshman, I will never forget just how shocked I was at how inclusive and welcoming the community here at GA was and still continues to be. Everyone’s kindness and inclusivity really made me feel at home and adjusting to a new environment felt so easy. With this being said, over my time here at GA, I’ve realized that GA could definitely improve in terms of making everyone here feel as though they belong. I believe that I can help in this matter by bringing more recognition and awareness about various topics regarding diversity to the GA community. I would love to get more engagement in things like DOPE Fest and other celebrations of diversity!I will work hard to educate and raise the standard of how inclusive we are at GA. It would be a JOY *wink wink* to be your DEIB president!
Victoria Batres
Hi everyone! I’m Victoria and I’m running to be your DEIB president. From being a grade representative for three years and holding a leadership position in my affinity group for two, I’ve seen how student leadership operates, where we can improve as a board, and how we can expand GA’s strong and unique sense of community. DEIB has always been important to me, and throughout my years at GA, I’ve experienced how much of a difference feeling included and part of the community can make. This sense of belonging, collaboration, and support is something I would love to continue promoting next year among all students in different ways (which I’ll discuss further in my speech). Thank you for your time and vote Victoria!
