Mrs. Minor is our new Assistant Head of Upper School for the 2025-2026 school year, and this article will help you better get to know her and her goals for our school. She advises the Honor Board, oversees the school calendar, organizes clubs, assemblies, and other programs on campus that help support the student experience. She stepped into her new position wanting to create more opportunities for the Honor Board to interact with students and create a united community on campus where students can feel comfortable going up to both under and upper classmen.
Furthermore, she wants to encourage the students to show more school pride by wearing the uniform. She believes that it has become more open and easier to follow, which allows students to be their most comfortable and confident selves. She also stepped into this position wanting to support the day-to-day running of the school, which includes backing Mr. Sullivan, the deans, and especially Mrs. Tarrant, who is truly “the heart of Greenwich Academy’s Upper School.” She wants to make sure all students feel secure and safe coming to her when they have a problem. She also hopes to create outlets for students and give them opportunities to showcase their ideas, such as the club fair, which she helped to put together.
This position differs from her old job as a freshman English teacher and college advisor, as she now gets to focus on the Upper School as a whole. While before she was focused on the entrance and exit years, she is now able to think about the whole US experience and the connections between students. She hopes to be able to plan various inter-grade and cross-grade bonding events. Mrs. Minor stated, “The leadership opportunities and comradery at an all girls school are very special.” She loves how G.A. cultivates leadership and prioritizes giving girls a voice in their community. She hopes to continue this trend and further help create an optimal and ideal setting for girls to be leaders and strong presences in their fields.
Now, for some more personal and fun facts about our new Assistant Head! First off, if Mrs. Minor could be any animal, she would want to be a polar bear. They’re large and formidable, and she admires how they are able to navigate such extreme conditions. She also thinks a mom and her cubs are adorable playing in the snow. Additionally, if Mrs. Minor could have one superpower, she would want the ability to time travel. She is especially curious about the lives of people in the past and future. For example, she would want to be able to visit the lives of her parents in the past, or her kids in the future. If you see Mrs. Minor in the hallways, feel free to stop her to chat or give her a friendly wave! She is super excited to be serving in this new position and is looking forward to working with each and every one of you!
